National Cadet Corps (NCC)

The N.C.C. is neither a second line of defence, nor a paramilitary force. It is basically a youth movement in schools and colleges. Enrolment of students in the National Cadet Corps is voluntary. Students of Junior Intermediate and First Year Degree shall be enrolled into Senior Division NCC of the three years training course. There is a full company of cadets is existing in our college under the supervision of 19(A) BN NCC Eluru. Students who are physically fit and mentally sound are enrolled into First year NCC every year according to the availability of vacancies.

There are ‘B’ and ‘C’ certificate examinations at the end of first and second year training respectively. Every NCC cadet shall have to put in 75 percent attendance at the parades every year of his training without which he will not be allowed to sit for ‘B’ or ‘C’ certificate examination. Every NCC cadet must attend one Annual Training Camp during his first year of training and another camp during his second year of training. When attending camps, the cadets are eligible for free travel, boarding and lodging. The aim of the camps is to provide collective training to the cadets in addition to institutional basic training. It also provides an opportunity to the cadets to learn teamwork and to develop qualities of leadership, discipline and character. A few trained and selected cadets may get a chance to participate in an All India NCC Republic Day Camp at New Delhi in January every year.

‘B’and ‘C’ certificates are very much valuable for the cadets since they carry with them considerable incentive for the cadets in the form of reservation of seats in three Services. Academic preference for admission to Graduate ,Post-Graduation and Technical Courses in various colleges and universities through out the country and preferences in employment both in the Central, state Governments and Union Territory Administration

To make the NCC training more purposeful, it was decided to form social service as part of NCC Program. The activities are varied and include such diverse activities as tree plantation, blood donation, donation of eyes, anti leprosy drive, adoption of a village, anti dowry pledge, traffic control, road construction, assistance during national calamities, accidents and many more.
